Anyone may join the Counselling and Psychotherapy Membership Association as either a:

1. Associate Member

2. Full Member

3. Accredited Member

4. Senior Accredited Member

5. Retired Member

The CPMA does not have and will not pursue a corporate identity, therefore membership fees for joining for 12 months before annual renewal are the same for each membership category.

The membership fee is £120.

Student membership is available to trainee counsellors undertaking a vocational Level 4 qualification and is valid for the duration of their training.

This fee is £50.

Benefits of membership include independent consultation and representation at any professional conduct hearing called by any other professional membership body during:

1. Your membership of that organisation

2. Within a 3 year period of your leaving that organisation or cessation of practice

'The primary drive of the CPMA is advocacy for, and representation of,  the practitioner.'

'Consultation' and 'representation' are supported by telephone, email or text support from 10 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday.

Representation at a professional conduct hearing is supported by nearly 20 years of giving evidence in Magistrates and Crown Courts, and the preparation of written statements and documents. Coaching in preparation of the hearing experience is available.

Transfer of your current membership category will be honoured by the CPMA with equivalent status.
